Talk Title: Transforming Whey Permeate into Bioplastic

Dr. Ruihong Zhang is a Professor in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at University of California, Davis (UC Davis) and a leading expert in the fields of bioprocessing and bioenvironmental engineering. She is Fellow of American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers. She has successfully developed and commercialized new bioconversion and bioprocessing technologies and participated in several start-up companies. Her research and development projects include production and application of bioenergy, biochemicals and biofertilizers, and sustainable food production. She has over 400 scientific publications and multiple patents. She was recognized as the Phenomenal Faculty by UC Davis, and Engineering Innovator by the UC Davis College of Engineering. Dr. Zhang received many awards, including Environmental Achievement Award from US Environmental Protection Agency, Achievement Award from California Bioresources Alliance.
